Nature Trails

Discover the spectacular beauty of the islands on foot. Go where cars, busses and bicycles can’t take you. Explore whole mountains, forests, beaches, plants, endemic flora and fauna at your leisure. Explore the natural beauty of Seychelles.

Safety.

For your own safety, it is advisable to map out your routes beforehand and let someone know when you are expecting to return.  Never go alone and without an adequate supply of water to keep dehydration at bay. Keep to the well marked trails.

Leave only Footprints.

ExperienceSeychelles.com promotes sustainable tourism practices, so please remember to take only photographs and leave only footprints behind so that others in future can also appreciate the unique, untouched environment of Seychelles.

Best time to walk.

June to September are the cooler, less humid months, making it the better season for walking. Avoid mid December to January as the rainy season makes for less than ideal conditions, and some paths can become quite dangerous after the rain.
The middle of the day is always the hottest, so plan your walks in the mornings or late afternoons as much as possible.

Recommended Trails.

Many guidebooks or hotels will recommend a selection of nature trails to choose from, so the below should be considered as a starting point only.

Anse Major – A peaceful one and a half hour walk, mostly within the Morne Seychellois National Park which follows the coast. There are 13 wooden
posts along this route to guide you. Before arriving on the beach you will be greeted by outstanding views, a ‘granite cave’ and two small bays. From here follow the yellow trail markers down to Anse Majour, a small, secluded beach.
This is one of the easiest walks and is perfect for those who aren’t avid walkers.
Flip flops are fine for this walk.
Length 2.4klms

Trois Freres – Not the easiest of climbs, but one of the most worthwhile, leads to the peak of Trois Freres. From there, you can enjoy an unbelievable panoramic view over Victoria, Ste Anne Marine Park, eastern lying islands, the International Airport and surrounding forest. Keep an eye out for pitcher plants near the top of the trail.
Duration 1 – 2 hours (return).
